I was leafing through a magazine one day, (Rolling Stone if you must know), when I saw a very cool Absolut ad. So I got to thinking about how I could turn that into a photoshop project.
The problem with this one, and I have this problem a lot, is that you really need to know something about a VTer in order to come up with a suitable way to create the image. For example, take a guy like "daarth". He has two very recognizable characteristics that when you see them, you automatically think of him... Single malt liquor and sail boats. But other people that I try to photoshop might be funny or entertaining characters on VT, but I really need to dig deep to get something that would work for a good image.
Anyway, enough blathering on... here are the four images that I was able to create. (I fully expect I will try this project again... soon)
Here's the first one I created. The sail is a little weak, but I think the image really works.
This one makes me cringe... I tried so hard to come up with a way to represent Larry with an Absolut ad... and this is the best I could come up with.
Denise was moving to Maine, so I decided to give her a little Welcome to the East Coast present with her very own Absolut ad.
What a difference a year makes. This one was done as a passport picture for seabiscuit. The lettering on the bottle is a bit rough, but otherwise it looks ok.

And now, over two years after the first attempt at Absolut ads, I decided to ignore my common sense and start some more. Here's a tribute to Bernishand:
Here's an ad for RoxanneCA. I was hoping to find a feature where I could use Roxanne's face, but I couldn't resist this one. You'll have to visit her homepage and find out about her obsession to really "get" this one.
Working on more right now...
